You’re Not Smart Enough Yet

I recently heard that Groupon Founder and CEO, Andrew Mason, works in a cubicle at Groupon’s headquarters. When asked why that was, he replied with, “I don’t feel like I deserve it. I don’t think I’m smart enough.”

The question here isn’t whether or not he deserves his own office, because he obviously does. Instead, it’s about being humble and maintaining a level playing field with all of your employees. That type of office structure incubates team building and a rise in synergy levels.

The next time you feel that you are deserving of a reward or some sort of entitlement, think about how far you still have to go to reach your ultimate goals. Would waiting a little while longer to accept success yield you even greater rewards in the end?
