Today is Valentine’s Day. Not only is it a day that I thoroughly enjoy because I am a lover of love, but I am especially intrigued by the marketing around it.
Any affiliate marketers out there know – marketing and advertising flowers online the week before Valentine’s Day can yield some serious commissions. There are only a few other times that this happens during a year. Those are tax season and Christmas.
I admittedly don’t know the history of Valentine’s Day, but I can only guess that it was either created or at least encouraged by the florists, chocolatiers, and greeting card companies.
The inception of Valentine’s Day is a great example of “calendar marketing.” If you own a business that can capitalize on the emotions of your customers and the branding of a certain day, you have an immense opportunity.
Right after you cherish your loved one tonight, just think about it.
