My Nightly Productivity Cheatsheet

In order to feel fulfilled at the end of a workday, you need to come prepared. It takes planning and a clear vision of a goal to ensure your feeling of accomplishment by the time your head hits the pillow at night.

I plan for the next day every night.

Here’s some of the things I do to ensure I always stay on track every day. Hopefully it helps someone grab a tighter hold of their daily regimen.

1. Every night, I make a short, but mandatory to-do list. Generally speaking, it usually looks something like this:

  • Write something shareable
  • Plan product features/marketing/client projects
  • Set up marketing strategies
  • Collect and share feedback and progress with teammates
  • Review and prepare for upcoming meetings and calls
  • Pinpoint an existing piece of content to share via social media
  • Prioritize which emails/issues need to be responded to immediately

2. I always intentionally overestimate my project due dates.

3. I try focus on to-do items so I can enter flow through focused work.

4. I plan when and how to make time for my family at night.

5. I account for sleep. I know what I need in order to function the next day.

6. I accept that I don’t need to workout every day, but I do make sure I do 100 push-ups a day.

7. Lay out meals and ensure what I consume is healthy and good for my body.

8. Review the previous day and remind myself how thankful I am.

9. Block off phone time. Don’t get distracted by it outside of designated times.

10. I lay out what I’m wearing the next day. Believe it or not, what you wear represents how you present yourself to others, which in turn, displays confidence and overall efficacy for your work.

What does your list look like?
