Simply Pay Attention

I’m becoming increasingly convinced that attention is the most crucial currency in today’s world. Having an audience that cares to consume what you put out is a valuable asset that can put money in your pockets in the long run.

Attention is hard to come by. Even when it’s expected, it often isn’t being given. During meetings, attendees look at their phones, doze off, or simply lose interest.

It used to be that showing up was the most important component to making progress by being involved. Now, I’m concerned that’s it’s not good enough anymore.

Now you need to actually pay attention and avoid all the distractions that come our way. Those that can maintain focus and show they care about what’s being discussed should be rewarded.

Furthermore, we need to figure out ways to combat the perpetual shrinking of our attention spans. It’s a devolution that’s becoming embarrassing.
