In order to create a company culture that thrives on action and meaning, there should be empowerment for any team member to do something proactive.
The most important aspect to this is to allow them to do this without interference. While this initiative shouldn’t take over their every day responsibilities, this type of behavior should be supported through and through.
If the initiative works out, then everybody wins.
If it doesn’t, it becomes a learning process that improves the company’s culture.
This is still a win since other team members will recognize that ambition is celebrated. This may fuel the company’s biggest idea yet.
I don’t know about you, but I’m willing to gamble a few side hours of uncertain employee happiness for a successful foray into a new space.
